Once again, Messiah Lutheran Church celebrated Easter outdoors on Sunday.
The annual drive-in worship service, led by Pastor Eddie Hosch, brought well over 100 vehicles to the Lyon County Fairgrounds main parking lot for a short service including music and a sermon on the Easter message of resurrection.
Donations were accepted to support Shiloh Home of Hope and its mission of helping young mothers and their children in crisis situations. The service aired on 1400 KVOE and 96.9 FM.
Lyon County churches could have normal attendance levels this holiday weekend — if they so chose — after county commissioners turned the 100-person mass gathering mandatory limit into a strong recommendation last week. It’s the first time churches in Lyon County could have full attendance in a year. Last September, the county briefly enacted a 2,000-person mass gathering limit if pods of 10 people or less could stay socially distanced from other pods and everybody practiced hand hygiene measures as recommended by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
