Emporia’s First United Methodist Church will have a food box giveaway Tuesday.
The USDA Farmers to Families program is partnering with the church to provide food at no charge. The church estimates it will have between 900-1,200 boxes of food to give away. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the church at 2 pm with the giveaway officially beginning at 3 pm until all boxes have been distributed.
Over the past 11 months, the USDA program has delivered over 150 million boxes of fresh produce, milk, dairy and cooked meats to people across the country.
