Portions of west Emporia dealt with a significant power outage early Wednesday.
Close to 1,800 Evergy customers lost power shortly before 2:30 am. The outage was centered around Sixth and Woodland. It covered an area from Road 160 and J north to near Flinthills Mall and from Seventh and West out past Industrial Road.
The outage was cleared shortly before 5 am. It developed as dying storms crossed Emporia, and Evergy is listing storm damage as the cause on its online tracking map.
