The Flint Hills Gravel RIde will make its debut Saturday.
Race organizer Bobby Thompson says all 250 slots filled up before the end of February.
The 80-mile ride starts in Americus at 8:30 am, with the 30-mile ride starting at 9:30 am. Riders will go out in groups of 20 to 30 people every five minutes. Riders will return to Americus to finish the event.
Check-in will be from 3-6 pm Friday at Mulready’s Pub in downtown Emporia. Fundraising from the event will benefit the Americus Recreation Commission, Handlebars of Hope and Payne’s Promise.
