Many tried, but only one managed to “beat the bracket” during March Madness this year.
Five-year-old Mila Wood was this year’s winner of the KVOE Beat the Bracket Challenge. Wood took the top spot with 111 points. Wood and her parents, Shawn and Kaylee Wood, claimed her winnings at Triad Leasing Friday afternoon. Kaylee Wood says this year’s challenge was a “big learning curve” for Mila.
In second place with 110 points, winning $300 in cash from Emporia State Federal Credit Union, was Brenda Seaton. Her strategy? Start with the top seeds.
In third place with 109 points, earning $100 in cash from ESFCU, was Charla Adams. Adams, who finished in second place during last year’s Beat the Bracket Challenge, says her strategy for picking teams changes from year to year.
For winning the challenge, Wood took home an assortment of prizes including $750 in lawn maintenance from Scott’s Lawn & Landscaping, a recliner from Triad Leasing and a $300 Gift Certificate for service or maintenance from Williams Automotive.
