A chilly Saturday night is ahead for much of the KVOE listening area.
Overnight lows in the mid-30s have led the National Weather Service to issue a frost advisory for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 1-8 am Sunday. A separate advisory now covers Chase and Greenwood counties from 1-9 am. The Weather Service says frost could kill sensitive plants if they are left uncovered.
Emporia’s overnight low is currently projected to hit 39 degrees.
Sunday will see a rapid warm-up, but it will be short-lived. Sunday’s high will be near 80 degrees. After a cold front moves across the area Monday, high temperatures may not make it above 65 degrees for the rest of the work week.
