The Emporia Rescue Mission is in full fundraising mode.
During a recent conversation with KVOE, Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman provided an update on a number of ongoing fundraising and construction projects. According to Alderman, the Rescue Mission has currently raised close to $300,000 of a $575,000 goal towards renovations at Abundant Harvest.
Alderman tells KVOE News the food kitchen’s current facility at 1028 Whittier is roughly 80-years-old and has a number of maintenance issues that desperately need to be addressed.
Alderman went on to say the maintenance needs come as traffic has been steady at Abundant Harvest in recent months.
Alderman is hopeful they can have the driveway repaired before the end of the spring and resume the popular Free at Three food giveaway in the next few months.
In addition to maintenance needs, the Rescue Mission is also in the home stretch of the annual Feinstein Challenge. According to Alderman, the Rescue Mission is only $25,000 away from reaching this year’s fundraising goal.
He says the Feinstein Challenge is the Rescue Mission’s biggest fundraiser for its annual operating budget. He says any and all donations are welcome to help the organization reach its goal before the challenge ends on Apr. 30.
