Habitat for Humanity’s longstanding home-building program will get a boost from Saturday’s disc golf tournament. So will Habitat’s new push to offer smaller-scale home improvements.
The disc golf tournament generated around $5,000, based on initial estimates. Habitat Director Eric Kirby says much of the money will help the annual home-building effort.
Part of the money will also help the new Brush With Kindness program, which has already led to three local projects addressing beautification and accessibility issues and is becoming a major focus for the group as it expands its overall mission. Kirby says the projects are designed to use anywhere from 12-20 volunteers for a weekend project.
