The Emporia High baseball team swept a doubleheader from Topeka West Monday.
Emporia High won the first game 16-3 in 6 innings. The Spartans put the game out of reach scoring 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning.
Ethan Garate was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Two of his hits were doubles.
Vance Kinze drove in 4 runs.
Logan Thomas drove in 2 runs and Kadyn Williams scored 3 runs.
Cam Geitz was the winning pitcher going 5.2 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 16-4. They scored 8 of the runs in the 7th.
Ethan Garate powered the offense again going 4 for 5 at the plate with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Kadyn Williams and Logan Thomas each drove in 2 runs while going 3 for 5.
Hunter Redeker was the winning pitcher going the distance giving up 4 runs on 4 hits.
The Spartans are now 4-4 for the season and host Manhattan Friday.
