The Emporia High softball team rallied for two wins over Topeka West Monday.
The Lady Spartans won the first game 7-6 in 9 innings.
After holding a 3-0 lead after the first inning, Emporia High would score 2 runs in the 7th inning to send the game to extra innings after Topeka West had taken a 6-4 lead with 3 runs in the top of the 7th. Shaylee Ginter drove in the tying run in the 7th and the winning run in the 9th.
Emporia High won the 2nd game 7-1 scoring all 7 runs in the bottom of the 6. All 7 runs were unearned after the first 3 batters reached base on errors.
Emporia High Coach Aaron Hammond liked the way they kept battling.
With the sweep, the Emporia High softball team is now 6-2 for the season. They play at Manhattan on Friday.
