Budget matters won’t take place immediately, but they will take center stage for the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education as part of their regular meeting Wednesday night.
Board members will discuss whether to increase the district’s Local Option Budget from 30 percent of the state general fund amount coming to the district to 33 percent, the maximum allowed by the state.
Updates will comprise the bulk of the meeting from there. There will be a specific update on the Emporia Middle School’s education redesign effort, a Building for the Future construction update from project coordinator McCownGordon and a quarterly health insurance update. Calendar recommendations for the next two academic years will also be discussed before an executive session on negotiations.
The meeting is at 7 pm at Mary Herbert and will be available for public view on the district’s website, www.usd253.org.
