Three people have been arrested for suspected drug activity near Council Grove Elementary School.
Council Grove Police Chief Shawn Wangerin says officers executed a search warrant at 203 Preston, a block north of the school, around 1 pm Monday. As a result, Michael Garrett, Sarah Malone and Phillip Irvin — all of Council Grove — were arrested.
All three were booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated child endangerment. Garrett was also booked on suspicion of felon in possession of a firearm.
Morris County deputies helped with the search warrant process and the investigation is ongoing. Formal charges are currently pending.
