Lyon County Commissioners have approved the cost of additional work for a new installation at the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
During their regular meeting Thursday morning, commissioners approved the payment of just over $15,000 to APAC-Shears for over 1,600 tons of AB-3 rock to placed at the fairgrounds for a new walking trail.
The walking trail is a project that received $65,000 in funding through Healthier Lyon County as part of the organization’s work to improve access to fitness and healthier lifestyles in the local community. Daphne Mertens of Healthier Lyon County says the trail is being designed to facilitate a number of activities.
There is no definitive date for when the trail will be complete at this time. However; updates will be posted regularly on Healthier Lyon County’s social media pages.
In other business, commissioners also received their weekly update on the county’s COVID-19 response from Lyon County Public Health Officer Dr. Ladun Oyenuga.
Approval was also given to a number of requests from Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods, 2021 bids for noxious weed chemicals from Noxious Weed Department Director Amy Welch and a request from District Two volunteer firefighter Timothy Rogers to place lights and sirens on his personal vehicle.
The Lyon County Commission will reconvene for its weekly action session next Thursday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
