The Emporia State softball team swept Newman in a doubleheader Saturday.
The Lady Hornet outscored Newman 16-8 in the first game.
Abby Ward hit a 2 run home run and drove in a run with a single. Emma Furnish drove in 4 runs. Senior Destiny Ojigoh drove in 2 runs and scored 3 runs.
Seniors Gabby Biondo and Kelsey Phillips each drove in 2 runs.
Kelsey Phillips was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Hornets won the 2nd game 10-2. Kerrigan Dixon proved big in the game. She drove in 2 runs with a single and hit a 3 run home run. Dixon was also the winning pitcher.
The Emporia State softball team is back in action this afternoon, they will be hosting Central Oklahoma. The first pitch is set for noon at the Trusler Sports Complex.
