Chilly temperatures won’t stop Laps 4 Landon from moving forward Tuesday evening.
This year, supporters of 14-year-old Landon Dody and 5-year-old Aiden Drier — and the overall fight against cystic fibrosis — have two locations to support the effort. The official walk will be at Emporia State’s Welch Stadium from 6-7 pm, with Lazy Butt BBQ offering food at Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church from 5:30-7:30 pm. Masks will be required at the walk.
Last year’s event was turned into a silent auction due to coronavirus, so organizers like Dr. Jennifer Thomas are glad this hybrid event can take place.
A silent auction is also taking place through Facebook from 7-8:30 pm. The page will stay open until 10 pm so organizers can coordinate pickup times with Tuesday night’s winners.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that creates extremely thick mucus which can clog the lungs and obstruct the pancreas of those afflicted. Thomas says treatments have come a long way, but more research is needed for treatments to make life easier for CF patients and, eventually, find a cure.
For more information, go online to Facebook. You’ll need to search for Laps 4 Landon 2021 for the overall event and Laps 4 Landon Online Auction 2021 for information on the silent auction.
