Two road improvement projects in the KVOE listening area have been approved.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has approved a multifaceted project extending east of Osage City. Grading, bridge work and road surfacing are involved on Kansas Highway 31 from the town’s east city limits to the highway junction with US Highway 75, or nearly seven miles of paving.
The project cost is estimated at over $15 million. Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka won the project.
Also, US Highway 50 will see work from just west of the Kansas Highway 177 junction to near the Simmons Creek bridge. This overlay project involves over four miles of highway and could cost as much as $1.4 million. APAC-Shears was selected for the project.
Timetables for these work zones have not been announced.
