The Emporia High baseball team split a doubleheader with Topeka High Wednesday.
Topeka High won the first game 7-0. The Spartans were shut out on 6 hits.
Emporia held on for a 10-8 win in the second game. The Spartans broke a 3-3 tie scoring 7 runs in the 6th, all with 2 outs. The Spartans scored 3 runs on bases-loaded walks. Ethan Garate drove in 2 runs with a single and Kadyn Williams drove in 2 runs with a double.
Topeka High tried to rally scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th.
Ethan Garate was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits.
The Spartans are now 5-5 for the season. They are scheduled to play at Ottawa on Friday.
