Saturday was another good day at the Drake relays for the Emporia State track and field team.
On day 2 they earned another championship, had 2 provisional qualifiers for nationals, a school record, and 7 top 5 finishes.
Travis Morrison picked up a gold medal in the shot put with a provisional mark of 55 feet 4 and a quarter inches.
Alyssa Conway broke the Emporia State record in the hammer throw with a throw of 189 feet 1 inch and finished in 2nd place. She broke the record of 188 feet 9 inches set in 1998 by Laura Mayo.
Madison Runnion finished 2nd in the high jump with a provisional jump for nationals.
Jenna Ramsey finished 5th in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Linnea Meier finished 5th in the 800 meter run with a personal best time.
The mens 4 by 100 relay team of Juwan Johnson, Jack Watson, Billy Ross JR, and Hayden Goodpaster finished in 5th place.
Emporia State Coach Steve Blocker was pleased with the all-around effort.
The Emporia State track teams will go to Fort Hays State next weekend for their final tune-up before the MIAA outdoor championships.
