Finances and future capital improvements were both on the minds of Flint Hills Community Health Center Board members Tuesday.
During the board’s monthly meeting, the monthly financial report showed a net gain of $140,000 for the month of March. This brought the year-to-date net gain to $193,000.
Revenues for the month came in 14 percent over budget with a total of $853,000 in expenses, less than one percent over budget. Additionally, the report showed that the Health Center’s 340B program, which allows FHCHC patients to receive pharmaceuticals and prescriptions from contracted pharmacies at a significant discount, added $29,000 to the health center’s bottom line for March.
In other business, the board approved two items related to a capital improvement project at the health center. Recently FHCHC received a notice of award for $2.2 million, $500,000 of which is available for renovations at the health center. However; Hively says approval of a formal project plan is needed by HRSA before the health center can draw down those funds.
Hively also gained approval to submit an application for an additional $500,000 plus through an American Rescue Plan grant for the same purpose. Hively says the proposed project would consolidate all of the health center’s medical services into one space.
Word on when the health center will hear back on the status of either funding opportunity is currently pending.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will next convene for its monthly board meeting on Tuesday, May 25 at noon inside the Havenhill Conference Room and via Zoom.
