Come June, USD 253 Emporia Assistant Superintendent of Human Relations Kelly Bolin will be ending her 30 plus career in education.
During the USD 253 Board meeting Wednesday evening, the board accepted Bolin’s notice of retirement. Bolin, and her family, came to Emporia back in June of 2017 from USD 443 Dodge City.
Sadly, in the same year, Bolin’s husband Steve passed away from a sudden heart attack. Bolin says in that moment of tragedy the Emporia community stepped up to support her and her children following Steve’s passing.
Bolin expressed her gratitude to the community in her retirement letter which she shared during an interview with KVOE News.
Following her retirement, Bolin says her time will be devoted to her family.
Bolin’s 32-year career has included 21 years as an administrator and 11 years as a classroom teacher. In addition to her current role, Bolin served as a principal at two elementary schools in Dodge City and worked as an educator in Ohio.
Bolin’s final day will be Jun. 30. Plans to fill Bolin’s position have yet to be announced.
