An attorney review hearing is coming Monday afternoon for one Emporia man accused of killing another in a traffic accident earlier this year.
This follows another review last month after Devawn Mitchell secured legal representation through Wichita attorney Kurt Kerns — and about seven weeks after the March 18 crash that killed Steve Henry. It also comes with a preliminary hearing in the case tentatively set for June 2.
Mitchell currently faces a single count of first-degree felony murder with an alternate count of second-degree murder. He’s also facing one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and three charges of felony flee and elude. He’s accused of fleeing from law enforcement on several occasions, with the wreck near Sixth and Lawrence happening after officers had broken off a chase due to unsafe speeds.
