Lyon County property owners are reminded to pay their second-half property tax payments soon.
Second-half payments are due Monday. Payments are accepted in the Lyon County Treasurer’s Office, as well as the County Courthouse dropbox, online at www.lyoncounty.org or by mail to the Treasurer’s Office, 430 Commercial in Emporia. If mailing, postmarks are needed on or before May 10.
Property owners who miss the deadline will also owe interest on their amount due. Real estate and utility taxes that are not paid by Aug. 1 will have a $16 fee added. If taxes are unpaid by Sept. 7, the amount is collected through a delinquent redemption certificate.
Treasurer’s Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm weekdays.
