The Emporia High baseball team outscored Dodge City 2-1 in a pitchers duel in the first round of the Emporia Classic Friday.
Cam Geitz was the winning pitcher for the Spartans going all 7 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.
EmporIa High scored a run in the first inning when Ethan Garate scored on a ground out.
They added a run in the 4th when Kadyn Williams scored on a wild pitch.
The Spartans will play Andover Central Saturday with first pitch set for 2pm.
