Severe weather didn’t come to the KVOE listening area, but brief heavy rainfall did.
After developing in western Kansas by late afternoon Saturday, it took until early Sunday morning for the storms to cover the area. Rain totals:

*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.33 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.80 inches
*10th and Weaver: 0.90 inches
*South and Sylvan: 0.80 inches
*Allen: 1.8 inches
*Americus: 1.5 inches
*Bushong: 1 inch
*Hartford: 0.60 inches
*Neosho Rapids: 0.95 inches
*Reading: 1.25 inches
*Saffordville: 0.90 inches
Varying degrees of severe weather risk stayed across the area for most of the day, and the Storm Prediction Center had Lyon, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties in a tornado watch for a time Saturday night into early Sunday morning. A handful of severe thunderstorm warnings were also announced, but no severe weather was reported in our area.
Mother’s Day will be cloudy, breezy and sharply cooler than Saturday. Emporia’s high temperature Saturday was 84. The projected high Sunday is 57.
