This week, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will have a virtual meeting to discuss the 2020 safety performance of 10 power plants, Wolf Creek included.
The NRC says the meeting will be at 5:30 pm Thursday and will be available on the agency’s website, www.nrc.gov. Online registration will be needed to participate. People must also call a special number and use a special passcode to hear the audio presentation. The phone number is 800-369-1159. The passcode is 6818485#.
The NRC says Wolf Creek, located outside Burlington, operated safely last year. All 10 nuclear power plants highlighted in Thursday’s virtual meeting had inspection findings and performance indicators in the green category or with very low-level safety significance, so this year those plants will receive what’s called normal levels of oversight.
