Emporia Police have arrested a local resident on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a child.
Police Sgt. Lisa Hayes say 54-year-old Garold Markham was reported to authorities late Tuesday night for allegedly soliciting a child through social media. The Emporia Police Investigations Division began looking into the complaint.
Markham was arrested shortly before 1 pm Wednesday at Peter Pan Park. He was booked on suspicion of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and electronic solicitation. Formal charges are pending.
