The Kansas City Royals came close but couldn’t overtake the Detroit Tigers as KC suffered their 11th straight loss 4-3 Thursday.
Detroit scored all four of their runs in the second inning. Michael Taylor scored the Royals first run in the fifth inning off a Whitt Merrifield double.
Nicky Lopez and Whit Merrifield would add two runs for the Royals in the top of the ninth off a Carlos Santana groundout and a Salvador Perez single.
The Royals now head to Chicago for a doubleheader with the White Sox Friday. Both games will be seven innings with the first pitch of game one set for 2:10 pm.
Both games can be heard on KVOE 1400AM and 96.9FM.
