The Emporia High track and field teams will be out to earn trips to State at the Valley Center Regional meet Thursday.
Emporia High will be competing against athletes from Valley Center, Salina South, Salina Central, Great Bend, Hays, Newton, Topeka West, and Highland Park. Senior Daniel Knapp will be competing in the long jump, triple jump and as part of the 4 by 100 relay.
Kaila Keosybounheuang is hoping to improve on her league title in the pole vault.
The top 4 finishers in each event will advance to State.
Area High School Athletes from the Lyon County League schools – Burlingame, Hartford, Lebo, Southern Coffey County, Madison, Marais des Cygnes Valley, Olpe, and Waverly will be competing at the 1A regional at Burlington.
Northern Heights, Chase County, and Lyndon will be competing at the 2A regional at Pleasanton.
