Wednesday’s potential for heavy rain across the KVOE listening area was realized — but only for a part of the area east of Emporia.
Moderate to heavy rainfall set up along and east of US Highway 75, triggering an urban and small stream flood advisory for Osage County and a flash flood warning for the eastern third of Coffey County. Rain totals are currently pending. Both alerts have ended.
For the rest of the area, rain totals were light:
*KVOE studios: 0.20 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.15 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.15 inches
*Allen: 0.25 inches
This let rivers continue to fall towards normal levels and allowed the Lyon County road network to keep drying out. There are still a few roads closed near Neosho Rapids:
*Road 135 from Road “V6/V7” to Road “W”
*Road “V6/V7” from Road 135 to 145
*Road W from Road 123 to Road 135
Also, the Lyon County Highway Department will close Road P between Roads 140 and 150 on Friday for road maintenance. That stretch of Road P was closed earlier in the week due to flooding.
There is a good chance of showers and storms for Thursday. Rain chances are low to moderate into the middle of next week.
We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
