A special dedication ceremony took place at the Fairgrounds Anderson Building on Wednesday.
The event noted the renaming of the Cleve Cook Patio to the Trusler-Cook-Lions Patio as well as the installation of a soft roof over the space. Roy Cook, Cleve Cook’s son, was in attendance. He was impressed with the project and the partnership.
Lions Club member Gary Post says the nearly $44,000 project brought Cleve Cook and longtime business partner Harold Trusler together again.
Lyon County Commissioner Rollie Martin says the Fairgrounds have been busy with community events over the past several years. The recent walking trail and the new covered patio area will continue that trend.
The patio roof got used almost right away as light showers took place during Wednesday’s official dedication ceremony.
Cleve Cook worked with Harold Trusler through the Trusler-Cook Grain Company for years. Once Cleve Cook passed away in 2013, his family established the Cleve Cook/Emporia Lions Club Fund through the Emporia Community Foundation to honor his dedication to agriculture, the club and the community.
