The Chase County Highway Department has closed a bridge northwest of Saffordville.
The Sheriff’s Office has announced the closure affecting a bridge on Z Road between 270th and 280th Roads, or about six miles northwest of Saffordville. Sheriff Richard Dorneker says this has nothing to do with recent rainfall. Instead, the bridge deck is old and needs to be replaced.
There is currently no word on when the bridge will be repaired and the road will be reopened.
