Once again, Lyon County had light rainfall on a day where heavy rain was a concern.
The KVOE studios got 0.25 inches of rainfall Thursday. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.19 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.25 inches
Lyon, Coffey, Osage and Wabaunsee counties were put into a flash flood watch for several hours Thursday, but that was canceled several hours earlier than planned when the heavy rain didn’t develop.
Despite the ongoing rainfall, Lyon County’s road network has continued to reopen following Sunday’s flooding rain that dumped between three to eight inches in Lyon County alone. On Thursday, the Lyon County Highway Department cleared nearly 15 roads and intersections for normal traffic flow. Aside from Road P between Roads 140 and 150, which now will be repaired at a later time, the Lyon County Emergency Communications’ online Traffic Advisory Map shows no flood-based road closures.
Rain chances continue at a low to moderate level into late next week. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
