If you’re needing to replant certain spring crops following the recent heavy rainfall in the area, there is still time to do so.
Lyon County Extension Ag Agent Brian Rees says the recent rainfall did some good for the area, however, it quickly became excessive.
Rees says the impacts on crops are dependent on the crop itself. He tells KVOE News that crops such as corn should still be in good condition and won’t require replanting, however, other crops such as soybeans may not have been as fortunate.
Rees says if farmers want to replant their crops they can still do so, however, they will need to wait for the soil to dry up enough to allow for the planting. Additionally, Rees reminds farmers to pay attention to certain factors such as soil conditions and populations if they do choose to replant.
