Mental Health Awareness Month may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean that self-care is becoming less important especially when you factor in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year.
During a recent visit on KVOE’s Morning Show, Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness CEO Amanda Cunningham says more people have likely struggled with their mental health over the past year than any before.
Cunningham says that changes in behavior may range from the obvious to very subtle differences such as increased irritability over the past year. Regardless, Cunningham encourages residents to lean on their support system in times where they feel they may be struggling.
Cunningham also encourages residents who may be struggling with their mental health to reach out to local agencies equipped to assist them such as Crosswinds. Cunningham also notes that there are those who may not be comfortable in sitting down to speak with someone at this time and she says that is understandable.
If you are one of these individuals, Cunnigham says individuals can visit Crosswind’s website where they have a “handful” of different assessments that can help residents gauge their current mental state and make decisions based off those findings.
If you would like to speak to an individual from Crosswinds or would like more information on how to maintain your own personal mental health contact Crosswinds Counseling and wellness by calling 620-343-2211 or visit their website CrosswindsKS.org.
