The Emporia Police Department and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will be testing tornado sirens in Emporia and Lyon County Tuesday.
The sirens are set to sound at noon according to Emporia Police Sgt. Lisa Hayes. The test is a weekly effort by local authorities to ensure that the sirens are functioning properly.
If stormy weather — rain, high winds, thunder, etc… — is ongoing at the time of the test it will be canceled to ensure there is no confusion or unnecessary alarm created.
