Two residents of Eureka were hurt when a utility vehicle hit an SUV just south of the town Saturday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 120th and U Road, less than four miles south of Eureka, shortly before 4:30 pm. The utility vehicle driven by 90-year-old Fred Hays was eastbound on 120th when Hays failed to stay stopped at the stop sign and hit the SUV driven by 22-year-old Sylan Gorman, also of Eureka.
Hays suffered potentially serious injuries and was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment. A passenger, 89-year-old Edwina Hays, went to Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka for suspected minor injuries. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
Gorman was not hurt. He was wearing a seatbelt.
