Symphony in the Flint Hills will be making its long-awaited return with a sold-out event in less than two weeks.
The 2021 event is set to take place Saturday, Jun. 10 near Council Grove on North Lakeview Pasture. The event is completely sold out, however, Operations Manager Kelly Tastove says if you can’t attend the event, you can still take something away from it thanks to an ongoing online auction.
There are a total of 52 pieces of artwork up for auction.
This will be the first time Symphony in the Flint Hills takes place since 2018 after the event had to be canceled due to weather-related damage in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Although COVID-19 will not be canceling the signature event this year, its presence will still be felt as this year’s event will have several COVID-related mitigation strategies in effect.
Six feet of social distancing will be required with mask use required when social distancing cannot be maintained. Volunteers will be cleaning and sanitizing frequently touched surfaces and proper hand hygiene is requested.
The Kansas City Symphony will be the main attraction for this year’s event. In addition, this year’s theme will commemorate the 200 year anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail.
