Updates to city code will be one of several items addressed by Emporia City Commissioners during their upcoming action session Wednesday.
Commissioners could approve two ordinances, the first would amend city code to accommodate the operation of electric-assisted scooters in the Emporia community. Three weeks ago, the city approved a memorandum of understanding with Bird Inc. to bring the scooters to town.
The second ordinance, if approved, would see an amendment to city codes pertaining to standard traffic ordinances. Commissioners could also potentially approve the issuance of industrial revenue bonds for the National Plaza & Lofts and Preston Plaza & Lofts project.
A request for a beer garden for the “Big on the Block” block party later this month, a utility easement for Westar Energy and USD 253 and an update to city code related to municipal waterworks could also see approval.
The meeting begins at 1:30 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
