Rain happened as expected Monday, but rain totals were on the low end of what was expected.
The KVOE studios received 0.50 inches of rainfall. Other totals:
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.29 inches
*Ninth and Lawrence: 0.45 inches
The forecast was calling for 0.50 to as much as 1.5 inches with widespread showers.
Just a handful of roads remain closed, and there is a chance those could be opened Tuesday after flooding impacts late last week:
*Road H-5 from Roads 215 to 225
*Road J from Roads 190 to 215 (also Prairie Street starting at 30th Avenue)
*Road 215 from Roads F-5 to J-7
Two area reservoirs still have elevated levels, so higher-than-normal release flows will continue. The Council Grove Reservoir is currently releasing 1,470 cubic feet per second, down slightly from the weekend flow. It’s almost eight feet above normal. John Redmond Reservoir is releasing 3,900 cubic feet per second, up slightly from the weekend. It’s almost 12 feet above normal.
Updates will be on KVOE and KVOE.com.
