Planning for the 2022 budget will continue for Lyon County Commissioners during a special study session Wednesday.
Commissioners will overhear budget requests from Lyon County Treasurer Sharon Gaede, administrators of Newman Regional Health, Brian Rees of the Lyon County Extension office and Ty Wheeler of Kansas Legal Services. Two executive sessions are also planned.
Commissioners will also review a proposal from the city of Emporia for an urban growth area in Lyon County.
The Lyon County Commission will then reconvene Thursday for its weekly action session. During that time, commissioners will hear an additional funding request from Emporia Public Library Director Robin Newell and other county libraries.
Commissioners could also potentially extend the county’s disaster declaration through Jul. 1.
Approval of appropriation payments to Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College, a request to attend the national NENA conference by Lyon County Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy and an update on the Lyon County Food and Farm Council will also come before the commission Thursday.
Both meetings will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
