Adalberto Mondesi hit a 2 run home run in the 5th inning to help lead the Kansas City Royals to a 7-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates last night.
Royals manager Mike Matheny said big hits were key to the win.
Mondesi was removed in the bottom of the eighth inning with a tweak in his left hamstring, he was working with the Royals trainers postgame. Manager Mike Matheny called it unfortunate.
Mike Minor was the winning pitcher going 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts.
The Royals and Pirates play again tonight. Brady Singer will be the Starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch set for 7:10p.
