An Emporia woman escaped injury after her pickup and camper went off Interstate 35 into a flooded ditch Thursday afternoon.
Lyon County Deputy Eric Williams says the crash was reported shortly before 4:30 pm between the Burlingame Road and East Sixth Avenue exits. Williams says 65-year-old Rita Pape was northbound with plans to leave the Interstate at East Sixth. However, the camper began moving side-to-side for unknown reasons. Pape lost control and went into the ditch.
Pape was found inside the truck. She was helped from the vehicle but declined a hospital trip afterward.
Emporia State Police and Safety helped with the case.
