Saturday night capped off the 83rd installment of the longest-running rodeo in the state of Kansas.
The 2021 Flint Hills Rodeo in Strong City culminated with the annual rodeo parade kicking off the final day’s festivities Saturday afternoon. Additional activities included the trade show, kid’s stick rodeo and the final main performance in the main arena followed by the cowboy and cowgirl dance sponsored by KVOE.
Organizer Stacy Davis says this year’s rodeo “exceeded” expectations. She went on to say that the cancellation of last year’s event, while regrettable, gave organizers a “goal to work towards for the community” with this year’s rodeo.
In addition to being the return of the rodeo after its short break due to COVID-19, this year was also special as organizers were able to donate 7,500 tickets to area school districts.
Organizer Dow Wilson says the donation is essentially an investment in the future of rodeo.
