Merrifield became the 1st major league player since Ricky Henderson in 1980 and the first Royal to have 2 hits, a stolen base, and a home run in the first inning.
Michael A. Taylor also drove in 3 runs.
Brad Keller was the winning pitcher going 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks.
