Emporia’s second mobile food bank of the year is coming to Abundant Harvest.
The food giveaway, courtesy of Kansas Food Bank and Tyson Foods, will go from 1-3 pm Tuesday or until the food is all handed out. On KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday, Food Bank Community Relations Manager Debi Kruetzman said people will take home a lot of food.
Hostess baked goods and Russell Stover candies will also be involved, and there will also be 10-pound packages of ground beef for the first 250 people that arrive.
Kruetzman says the goal is to serve at least 250 households after around 300 were served last month. She says this is an important effort with school out and also a lot of families still not yet back on their feet financially due to COVID-19.
People attending the mobile food bank are encouraged to let the truck through when it arrives before 1 pm and also to avoid blocking mailboxes as they wait their turn in line.
