While Emporia State University has ended most of its coronavirus protocols, a few are still in place at Flint Hills Technical College, albeit on a limited basis.
On KVOE’s Tech Talk on Tuesday, President Dean Hollenbeck said mask use and social distancing are still needed — but not across all campuses and not in all situations. Vice President of Student Services Lisa Kirmer agrees.
Kirmer says protocols have “relaxed a lot” over the past year. Masks are still strongly encouraged but not required — except in certain settings like classrooms and labs where social distancing cannot be maintained. Speaking of social distancing, the college uses a standard of 36 square feet between people.
Flint Hills Technical College has had 74 confirmed cases throughout the pandemic, including 18 since New Year’s Day.
