The Department of Veterans Affairs’ Eastern Kansas Division is expanding its COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
Starting Thursday, the VA’s Eastern Kansas Health Care System will start vaccinating people between the ages of 12 and 17 if they are caregivers of veterans or are beneficiaries under the SAVE LIVES Act’s Civilian Health and Medical Program. Vaccinations will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Topeka medical center from 10 am to 1 pm and at the Leavenworth center from 8-11 am.
Expanding the available vaccination age range is in line with recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Food and Drug Administration. The VA had been vaccinating adults ages 18 and up earlier.
Veterans can call 800-574-8387 ext. 54453 with questions or to schedule appointments. Walk-ins are also welcome.
