The first major event as part of the #VaxToNormal campaign has been announced.
The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund, United Way of the Flint Hills, Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow, USD 253 Emporia Public Schools and Flint Hills Community Health Center will be partnering together to provide a drive-thru vaccination clinic next month at Riverside Elementary School. United Way Director and GEADRF representative Mickey Edwards says the school is a perfect location to accommodate the event’s format.
The coming clinic is part of the recently announced #VaxToNormal campaign which is seeking to increase vaccination rates within the core KVOE listening area including Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties and Woodson County. FHCHC Executive Director Renee Hively says this allows the health center an opportunity to reach out to a population where they have seen some “disparities” in vaccination rates this past year.
KVOE has reached out to HOTT for additional comments on the coming clinic. The drive-thru clinic is scheduled to take place Saturday, Jul. 10 from 8 am to 10 am and is open to all residents 12 years and older.
Every individual who receives a vaccination during the clinic will receive a $10 gift certificate that can be used at a number of local retailers and restaurants.
