The Emporia Junior American Legion baseball split a doubleheader with Newton Tuesday night. Post 5 won the first game 9-1 in 6 innings.
After giving up a run in the top of the 1st Post 5 responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. They scored 5 runs in the 5th and a run in the 6th. Vance Kinsey was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI.
Logan Thomas was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
Vance Kinsey and Hunter Redeker combined for the win on the mound.
Newton won the 2nd game 10-0 in 4 innings. They scored 7 of those runs in the 1st inning.
The Senior Legion will be hosting the Sam Ellis Classic beginning Friday.
