The first winners in the new #VaxToNormal COVID-19 vaccination and incentive campaign were announced Friday morning.
Allison Curtis, Mallory Ginn, Brad Kraft, Leslie Mullen, Dena Russell-Marino and Ben Simmons each won $50 gift certificates from Emporia Main Street as part of a drawing Friday.
The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund is organizing this effort with a range of health, education, business and nonprofit partners to increase vaccination rates in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee and Woodson counties. Residents are eligible for weekly drawings if they are fully vaccinated, whether before the campaign started this week or as part of the campaign the next few months. Students at Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College are also eligible if they are vaccinated.
Weekly drawings will take place through Sept. 10, when a grand prize drawing will be held. The first announced vaccination clinic will be a pop-up event at Emporia’s Riverside Elementary School on July 10.
More information is available at www.geadisasterrelieffund.org or on the Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund’s Facebook page. Weekly drawings will take place on the Facebook page.
